Rohit Sharma-led Team India defeated New Zealand 3-0 in the T20 series last week. Not only the results of the match, but the results of the toss also went in India’s favour, with Rohit winning all three tosses against his New Zealand counterparts. India had a poor show with the toss in the recently concluded T20 World Cup for the record. Making fun of the same, former India pacer Zaheer Khan and batsman Wasim Jaffer had some jokes on Wednesday.
Alluding to Rohit’s toss win against New Zealand, Zaheer Khan on Wednesday took to Twitter to ask his fellow cricketers to remember such rare moments.
“Still can’t believe India won three out of three tosses in the recent series,” Zaheer tweeted.
Responding to the same, Jaffer replied that winning three consecutive tosses is rare but not as rare as having better bowling figures than Zaheer.
Interestingly, Wasim Jaffer has taken just two wickets in international cricket. During the fourth Test of India’s tour of the West Indies in 2002, he took two wickets in Antigua.
Jaffer returned figures of 2/18 while Zaheer took two wickets for 128 runs. The match eventually ended in a draw with both the teams playing just one innings each.
India will now take on New Zealand in a two-match Test series starting Wednesday, November 25 in Kanpur. This will be the first meeting between the two sides in the longest format since the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in June earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the second Test will be played between December 3-7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
