New Delhi:

Dr Bhagwat Karad, a doctor-turned-Union minister, today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appreciate the timely help of a fellow traveller.

Dr Karad, Minister of State for Finance, was on board an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Mumbai last night when one of his companions complained of dizziness. The minister stepped inside and helped the passenger.

Photos shared by news agency ANI showed the patient with the minister stretched out in a row of seats. “The patient was sweating profusely and his BP was low,” Karad told ANI. He said the passenger felt better after being given glucose.

Appreciating the Union Minister for his timely intervention, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, retweeting a post by Indigo Airlines, “Dil Se Ek Doctor, Always! Great gesture by my colleague @DrBhagwatkarad.”

Appreciating the minister’s gesture, IndiGo tweeted, “Our heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to MoS for carrying out his duties non-stop! @DrBhagwatkarad Your voluntary support to help a fellow traveler is always so inspiring “

Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra, Dr. Karad is a surgeon. He also has a hospital in Aurangabad and has held several medical positions. Prior to his election to the Upper House, he served as the mayor for Aurangabad.
