Watch the New Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is here. As promised, early Wednesday, Sony Pictures dropped the second trailer for the next Spider-Man movie, giving us a better idea of what to expect from the multiverse adventure. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has no hints at the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, something that fans were hoping for, despite assurances from everyone involved (serial leakers and Spider-Man Including star Tom Holland himself) that a reunion isn’t happening, but we do get more Spider-Man villains — Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx’s Electro — returning, along with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.

Peter Parker (Holland) says at the beginning of the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, “We’ve had a week since I got bitten by that spider, and that’s when you found out.” Strange then reveals that the mantra to protect Parker’s identity had gone wrong, and that there are “visitors” coming from every universe. Enter nearly every previous Spider-Man villain from non-Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, including Doc Ok, Electro, Sandman, and the Green Goblin (who sounds like Willem Dafoe, though we never see his face). But there is an added twist. Strange says it is his fate to die at the hands of Spider-Man – Parker insists there must be another way and sets out to save him, which is not going to be easy.

There were six MCU movies between Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home. Partly thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I would imagine, and Sony is pushing a two-year gap between its superhero movies.
