Australia’s Formula One star Daniel Ricciardo introduced the F1 world to the ‘shoe’ festival – drinking the celebratory champagne from his shoes – at the 2016 German Grand Prix. This has now become a tradition of sorts for the current McLaren driver and even the great Lewis Hamilton has given it a shot, however, he made it clear that the champagne flavor from Ricciardo’s boot was not to his liking. . Following in Ricciardo’s footsteps, his compatriots Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis introduced the cricketing world to the ‘Shoi’ celebration after their victory in the T20 World Cup.

Australia dominated New Zealand to win their maiden Men’s T20 World Cup title in Dubai on Sunday. Like their performance on the field, the Australian players’ celebration in the dressing room was also worth watching.

In a video posted on the ICC’s Instagram handle, Wade can be seen removing his right shoe, pouring a drink into it and then cheering on it with his Australian teammates and support staff members.

Stoinis, who had followed up with Wade for Australia in the semi-final against England, then joined his teammate by putting his drink in the same shoe and knocking it down.

But looking at Stoinis’ face, he didn’t seem to enjoy the taste much and could be heard saying “it’s a little cheesy”.

On Sunday, there was much cheer for all of Australia as their cricket team put up a dominant performance to beat their trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in the final in Dubai. Mitchell Marsh, David Warner and Josh Hazlewood were the protagonists of the final for the Aussies.
