Sooryavanshi steady at box office on Day 6, Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe enters Rs 200 crore club

Akshay Kumar starrer sooryavanshi Running steady at the box office. On Wednesday, the film added Rs 9.55 crore to its total collection, which now stands at Rs 112.36 crore. Since there are no other major Bollywood releases in cinema halls this weekend, the Rohit Shetty directorial is expected to earn some more in the coming weekend.

A masala entertainer, Sooryavanshi is the fourth iteration in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. Apart from Akshay, the film also has cameos from Ajay Devgn’s Singham and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba. These three come together to save Mumbai from terror attack.

Another film that is pulling people to the cinema halls is Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe, Despite the poor reviews from critics, the film continues to hold its own at the ticket counters. The worldwide collection of the Siva directorial currently stands at Rs 202.47 crore.

Both Sooryavanshi and Annaatthe are major releases at the box office which got delayed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country. Now, seeing its success at the ticket counters, other filmmakers can also rest assured to release their film on the big screen. Film trade analysts Girish Johar and Komal Nahta had earlier suggested that Sooryavanshi’s box office collection will determine the future of other films that are waiting in the pipeline.

Johar said, “Sooryavanshi’s opening box office is very important in defining the future of upcoming films.” Nahata further added, “Everyone is crossing their fingers for Sooryavanshi as its collection will define what will be the trend.”
