Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Actor Ghanshyam Nayak passed away on 3 October After a long battle with cancer. Recently, there were speculations that the makers have decided to rope in a new actor to play the much-loved Natuka. However, producer Asit Kumar Modi has now confirmed that there are no such plans.
In a recent interview, he shared that Nayak has not only been an actor but also a friend to him. Stating that they are not planning to change his character, he asked fans not to fall for such rumours.
“It has been hardly more than a month since the senior actor passed away. Ghanshyam Nayak aka Natukka has been a friend and I have worked with him for many years. I valued his contribution to the show. As of now, we have no plans to replace his character or bring in any other actor to play the role of Natukaka. There are many rumors going on but I would request the audience not to pay heed to them,” Asit Kumar Modi told Bombay Times.
After a picture of an old man sitting at Gada Electronics (Jethalal’s shop in Taarak Mehta) went viral, rumors of a replacement surfaced.
Ghanshyam Nayak passed away on 3 October. Condoling his demise, Asit Kumar Modi in a statement had said, “Ghanshyam Nayak (Nattu Kaka) and I go back a long way and our families were also related. His passing is a loss for me and for the show personally. Over the years, he kept motivating and encouraging me and, he himself was very happy with the role he was playing in the show. His absence will be felt by all and it is a big loss for the entire team. We pay tribute to a great actor and a great human being and our condolences and prayers are with his family at this painful time.”
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, one of the longest running shows on television recently completed 3300 episodes.
