‘Priyanka Chopra never insulted anyone’: Kavita Kaushik takes a dig at Kangana Ranaut, DCW chief demands Padma Shri take back

Actress Kavita Kaushik took to Twitter to taunt Kangana Ranaut for suggesting Priyanka Chopra’s name for Padma Shri. Taking a jibe at Kangana Ranaut Recently made headlines for his provocative statements, Kavita said that Priyanka ‘kept Indian culture up a notch’ without ever being abrasive about it.

Kavita wrote, “Why didn’t she get the Padma Shri!? Brilliant actor, brilliant human being, a huge success globally and has put Indian culture on a walking tour without holding the flag about it! And yes never a senior for that matter.” Didn’t insult the contemporary artist or anyone! She’s awesome!!” However, Priyanka Chopra was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, in 2016.

Kangana Ranaut created a storm after questioning the freedom fighters’ struggle for independence. He said India had achieved ‘real’ independence in 2014, and described the country’s independence in 1947 as ‘begging’. Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Swati Maliwal has written to President Ram Nath Kovind urging him to take back the Padma Shri. He also demanded a charge of sedition against the Rani actor.

“These statements reflect their hatred for our great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and countless others who laid down their lives for the nation! We all know that our country got freedom from British rule through the ultimate sacrifice and martyrdom of our great freedom fighters,” she wrote.

Noting that Kangana’s statements have hurt the sentiments of lakhs of Indians and are “seditious” in nature, she urged the President to “kindly take cognizance of the matter and withdraw the Padma Shri award given to Ms. Ranaut”. .

“I also request you to please ensure that an FIR is registered against him for sedition. I hope you will uphold the sentiments of crores of Indians and take necessary steps in the matter.

The DCW chief said that Kangana, through her “insensitive and thoughtless lies”, demeaned and undermined the “sacrifices of millions of Indians who participated” in various movements like the Revolt of 1857, Champaran Satyagraha, Khilafat Movement, Quit India Movement . , Dandi March and Non-Cooperation Movement among many others.
