model to actor malvika raj Very excited but also nervous about the release of her Bollywood debut film Squad. The actor, who will be seen performing some high-octane action sequences, said it was his conscious decision to choose an action film instead of the “usual rom-com or college drama” for his debut.

Talking about her debut film and the experience of shooting for it, Malavika said, “It was very difficult. For me, more so. I didn’t know how to do action sequences. Not even a punch. But I did it. Took it as a challenge. When I got to know that I will be doing action with Rinzing (Rinjing Denzongpa), I was very excited to join it. I trained myself before shooting.” The squad also features veteran actor Danny Denzongpa’s son Rinjing.

Talking about her role, she says, “The team will change the perspective of how women are seen in this film. I’m not a girl in trouble waiting for Rinzing to rescue me. I will keep doing action sequences as well.”

While Squad marked Malavika’s debut as an adult, people already know her because of her role in sometimes happy some times sad. The actor played the role of young Pooja aka Poo in the film. This role was also played by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Talking about her first on-screen break as a child artist, Malavika said that it was on the sets of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham that she realized acting was her calling. “I really realized that when I was very young. Happily Ever After… I was sure I wanted to be an actor. I knew this was where I belonged. I love being on set. It My happy place,” she said.

Talking about K3G, Malavika said that she feels “real” thinking that she shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. “It is surreal to think about it now, but at that time, I was so young that it did not impress me that I am actually sharing screen space with such a humble superstar. And to be honest, he never made me feel that way. He was sweet and so grounded, that’s what I learned from him. Everyone’s attitude was so positive. He never made anyone feel less. I was just a kid, but they all treated me the same way. I, honestly, started feeling like a superstar then, which is only because of how he treated me. Even Karan sir pampered me a lot,” she recalled. So, has she seen the film herself? “Of course! every Sunday! I have seen that movie more than 2 million times. I love watching myself on TV,” said Malavika with a laugh.

On the closing note, Malavika agreed that she would “love to work with all of them again” and hoped to see her film Squad, which will start streaming on ZEE5 on November 12.
