Joe Biden celebrated his 79th birthday on Saturday, a day after he was declared “healthy” and “fit” for the presidency after an extensive but routine check.
The US president, who spent the day in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, had no public events scheduled.
That didn’t stop several top Democrats from sending him congratulations.
Vice President Kamala Harris wished her “a happy and joyous day” on Twitter.

Biden received an early birthday present this week when House Democrats managed to pass their massive social welfare bill, known as Build Back Better, pushing it forward in the Senate.
Former President Barack Obama, whom Biden served as vice president, said: “Happy birthday to my friend and my brother … Thank you for giving the gift of better infrastructure to all of us.”

Following Biden’s physical condition, White House physician Kevin O’Connor said the president was a “healthy, vigorous” man who was “fit to successfully perform the duties of the president, calling him chief executive, head of state and to be inducted as Commander-in-Chief.”
Biden is the oldest president in American history.
