Delhi schools to remain closed till further notice due to air pollution

The Education Department today said that all schools in New Delhi will remain closed till further notice due to air pollution in the city.

The air quality in the national capital remained in the “very poor” category this morning, with the Directorate of Education ordering closure of all schools in Delhi till further notice.

During this only online classes will run.

Additional Director of Education Rita Rita said, “The Environment Department has directed the closure of all schools in NCR and adjoining areas with immediate effect till further orders of the Air Quality Management Commission. Hence, all government and private schools shall remain closed till further orders. Will stay.” Sharma said.

“However, online teaching learning activities and examinations for board classes will be conducted as per the guidelines issued earlier,” the official said.

The city recorded its air quality index (AQI) at 382 at 9 am.

AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 and 500 ‘very poor’ considered ‘serious’.
