Deepak Chahar has been included in the India A squad for the Red Ball Series in South Africa.
Fast bowler Deepak Chahar and young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan have been included in the India A squad, which will tour South Africa for three four-day Test matches. Deepak and Ishaan are in Kolkata for the third T20 International against New Zealand and will leave with the team on November 23. “Yes, Deepak and Ishaan have been included in the squad. They will finish the match in Kolkata and join the A team before they leave for South Africa,” a senior BCCI official confirmed to PTI. Of.
Ishaan is understood to have been sent because the Chetan Sharma-led committee had mistakenly kept Upendra Yadav as the only wicketkeeper for the ‘A’ tour of Railways. Another official said, “He needed a second keeper and one who is better than Ishaan. He will probably be the first keeper now and rightly so.”
Deepak hasn’t played much cricket with the red ball but the selectors want to keep him busy with his ability to swing the ball. Gujarat’s top-order batsman Priyank Panchal will lead the India A team for the tour of South Africa starting November 26. The tour consisted of three four-day matches in Bloemfontein.
