While the pandemic still continues, the festival is scheduled to take place between November 25 and November 27 this year. According to Meghalaya Tourism.in, the lineup includes a literature festival with award-winning authors, publishers, literary agents, visual artists, storytellers.

The lineup at other events includes art and writing engagements with illustrations, short stories, essays, paintings and photography.

According to the site, visitors can participate in a number of competitions, including singing, fashion shows, cosplay, local brewing, Japanese and Korean food preparation, Mr and Miss Shillong Cherry Blossom, Mrs Shillong Cherry Blossom, graffiti making, and more.

Additional events include a fashion show by upcoming designers and national and local performances on all three days of the festival.

The annual celebration coincides with the actual blooming of the cherry blossom flowers. Also known as Prunus cerasides, these flowers line the Himalayas and cover the East and West Khasi Hills. While they grow in the wild, they are also seen across the state, especially during this time of year.
