6.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Northeast, tremors were also felt in Kolkata

According to the National Center for Seismology, a strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck near the India-Myanmar border on Friday morning.

Tremors of the earthquake were felt in Tripura, Manipur and Assam. Eyewitnesses on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said the quake was felt as far as Kolkata.

The epicenter of the earthquake was Chittagong in Bangladesh.
